On Wednesday, Michael and I went to Avery’s class’s Christmas party. When we first got there the kids were all sitting on the carpet listening to a story the teacher was reading. As a former teacher, I couldn’t get over the storage in the room. They even had a restroom in the room so the kids didn’t have to leave the class. What teacher wouldn’t love that:))

The tables were already set up for the party. Each students place was marked with the gingerbread house they had made I think on Mon. or Tues. They were made with milk cartons (that was what they attached their stuff to), icing (for glue) graham crackers, peppermints, stick pretzels, gum drops, and probably other candy.

While the parents got the food ready, the kids took turns playing a game where they used a straw to blow a cotton ball down the hall and then carried an ornament on a spoon. Some of them were so funny – they held the straw and just blew with their mouth, using the straw kind of like a hockey stick to guide the cotton ball.

The other activity was making a snowman with an oreo as a base, icing for glue and marshmallows and candy … the hats were hershey kisses.
Good food .. pigs in a blanket, chip and dip, carrots, grapes, cupcakes and cookies. They were all high on sugar by the time they left:))

After they ate, their teacher (Mrs. Debbie Smith) gave each of them a book about the Gingerbread Man and all his friends and also a bag of candy treats.

Then it was time to pack up and get ready to go home .

The one thing I thought was strange was that they still had to go back to school today for half a day. I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t wait til today to have the party. As it turned out, Avery got the day off anyway.
I went with them back to Michael’s and after visiting for awhile , we went to a place called Brick’s Cafe (they cook in a brick oven) and ate supper. Then I left and came back to Spring Hill.
Avery had lots of fun but when she got back to her mom’s , she was complaining about her throat hurting and was running a pretty high fever – over 102 and during the night it went up to almost 105. So, it was off to the Dr. today where they said she has strep but should be back to normal in a couple of days. We are very glad about that.
Have a great rest of the week everybody.
